Art is my passion. I've been fortunate to have gallery owners, art organizations, newspapers and magazines exhibit and/or sell my work.

EILEENSERWERFINEARTANDDESIGN..COM  is a website used to display my work, be it my impressionistic paintings, photos of my art used in interior design, interior designs or jewelry designs.
I had a love of color and design  at an early age.  As an adult, I enrolled at the New York School of Design, where I earned an associates’ degree in interior design.
Something drew me into a local art supply store and told the owner of my passion and desire to paint. He suggested I go over to the Art Student’s League. When I told them of my wish, I was told to purchase a small box
of pastels and a pad of newsprint and sign up for a class with a particular teacher. This was a live model class and I immediately knew this was not the right place, but painted from a photograph of a landscape I brought to class. After completing my first painting, I knew I had found my passion and was hooked. After studying there for awhile, I decided I wanted to develop my landscape painting skills and heard of the Pastel Society of America. I went to their offices. They almost laughed at my lack of knowledge about pastels, but I pursued and signed up for classes.
I told one of my  talented instructors that I was recently retired from selling real estate and was looking to do something else. They were having difficulty selling their paintings and asked me if  I’d be interested in helping them.
As luck would have it,  I went into a neighborhood framing store and art gallery and told them I was representing several pastelists. They were not interested in dealing with art reps. When I told them I was also painting, they asked to see my work. They must have liked it. Within weeks, they took down every painting in their gallery and gave me my first show. That was the Fitzgerald Gallery in Westhampton, Beach, NY. where I have been represented  since.
My luck continued. I have exhibited in many prestigious juried, solo and group shows, became a juried member of several national art clubs, have been featured in magazines and newspapers and taught landscape classes and judged art shows.  My The PRESS page on my website, now called eileenserwerartanddesign.com shows some of these accomplishments..
As time went on, I started to create landscapes in oil, do custom collages and design jewelry.
